RV Insurance FAQs

What does RV Insurance include?

The RV insurance policies available to you depend on the type of recreational vehicle you own. The premium you pay may also be affected by what class type your RV falls under, how much you use your RV, and if you live in your vehicle full-time.

There are three classes of RV:

Class A includes luxury coach models, converted buses, and motor coaches.

Class B includes the smallest class of RV and typically includes travel trailers, camper vans, or vehicles that do not have a cab-over design.

Class C includes vehicles or motorhomes that come equipped with a cab or cut-away chassis.

If you are unsure of what category your RV falls under, please do not hesitate to call the consultants at Go Insurance! Whether you need a new quote or wish to inquire about additional coverage options, we have the expertise to help you.

What kind of coverage does an RV insurance policy provide?

RV insurance provides many of the same types of coverage as a standard auto insurance policy; however, these specialized policies offer a higher threshold for liability when it comes to the risks that are unique to RV owners.

To learn more about the coverage we provide, including basic coverage options, give our RV insurance experts a call today to receive your quote 1-780-448-2298.

Is my RV covered under my car and home insurance policies?

Your towable recreational vehicle or motorhome is not likely to be covered in your current car or home insurance policies, but it depends on what policy you have selected. Contact the insurance consultants at Go Insurance today if you are unsure.

What factors influence the cost of my premium or RV insurance rates in Alberta?

  • The value & class of your vehicle
  • The model, make, and year of your RV
  • Your insurance and claims history
  • How much you use your RV
  • Your driving record when it comes to driving recreational vehicles

What do I do if I get into an RV accident on the road?

Car accidents, in any capacity, are a huge hindrance when you’re about to go on a road trip or you’re in the middle of RVing through Alberta. If you’ve found yourself involved in a recreational vehicle accident, be sure to adhere to the following steps:

  1. Ensure that you and your passenger(s) are safe and unharmed
  2. Check on the occupants of the other vehicle to ensure that they too are unharmed
  3. Move your vehicle safely out of oncoming traffic
  4. Call 911 if necessary
  5. Turn off your engine, turn on your hazard lights, and wait for help to arrive— whether that is a tow truck for your RV or an ambulance to treat any injured parties
  6. Exchange information with the other motorist, including full name and contact information, insurance company and policy number(s), drivers’ license and license plate number(s), and make/model/color of the vehicle(s) involved
  7. Be sure to document the accident. Documentation can involve taking photos of the damage done to both vehicles, acquiring a copy of the accident report, etc
  8. Get a hold of your RV Insurance consultant. Our team will guide you through the claims process and ensure that you have all the information needed to file your claim
  9. Start the claim process
  10. Have your recreational vehicle professionally inspected

What will my recreational vehicle insurance policy cover?

Depending on the selected insurance policy, you can enjoy the following RV coverage:

  • Contents coverage
  • Loss of use coverage
  • Personal liability coverage
  • Living and travel expenses coverage
  • Structures and accessories coverage
